The Launch of September Heritage Games & Cultural Activities

Today the 1st of September 2022 we celebrated “spring day” on the beautiful landscapes of Princess Zila Lobengula Cultural Village. The King Lobengula Foundation with its Stakeholders [ Albany Museum; ECSRAC; MLM; Traditional Healers; Rhodes University and the Civil Society] were gathered together to pave a way for the forthcoming Events that are to take place during the month of September, which is known by the Rainbow Nation as the Heritage Month. 

One of the prime Events that would be hosted by King Lobengula Foundation in conjunction with its Stakeholders including the Department of Anthropology at Rhodes University is the Dialogue on Contextual Spirituality which will include Traditional Healers [AmaGqirha] and the Religious Sector. Hence today we saw a plethora of people coming to embrace the Launch of September Heritage Month Games and Cultural Activities, that would kick-start with the Commemoration of Heroes and Heroines on the 10th of September2022. The humiliation that was suffered by our forefathers who had their lives changed due to Colonialism is still in our minds to this day. Some of our brothers and sisters are still under the influence of ‘colonial forces’ and that is one of the reasons the Foundation with its Stakeholders would be focusing on means to free the minds of the African People. 

The September Heritage Fun Run Walk will be held on the 24th of September, but would be preceded by the Sporting Games. We anticipate that the Fun Run Walk Marathon would draw people from all over the world as we hope to have a full day of Cultural Activities, such as Street Parades, Food Stalls, Music and Dance and a chance to exchange Cultural norms. 

The Foundation would be starting Herbal Classes for those who are interested to know more about Herbs, Mr. Mgxotheni would be offering Training for beginners an advance Students. We looking at Holistic way of healing, using roots and other plants. We shall be starting a herbal garden within the establishment those who are interested to learn or to take a look at some of our plants in our beautiful garden, you are more than welcome to book a Tour with us and will take you through some beautiful landscapes.
